Description of service
I had a pediatric dentist apply sealants to my then 7 year old son's 6-year molars. The dentist and the dental tech sat down with him and described to him everything that they were going to do, and emphasized that there would be no pain involved. The dentist and dental tech applied the sealants to the four teeth and were done with the procedure within about 10 minutes. After they were done, they had him bite on a piece of paper to ensure that the sealants were applied properly and that his bite was not affected.
Review of Service
The dentist was very thorough in her explanation, and also explained the procedure in a way that my son could easily understand. They were very patient about giving him a break after applying sealant to each tooth, as they realize it is not very comfortable for a 7 year old to hold his mouth wide open for long periods of time. I was pleased with the level of service provided and their friendliness towards children.
Tips
I would advise anyone needing pediatric dental service to first make an initial appointment for a simple cleaning so that the child can get to know the dentist, dental techs, and the office. A positive first experience can make all the difference in how comfortable the child will be to make a return visit for other procedures. If you do not like what you see in the initial visit, do not go back! Make sure the dentist explains procedures at the child's level to alleviate any fears the child may have.
