Description of service
On a routine dental cleaning visit, my dentist had my annual 360 degree x-rays taken and found several starter cavities. She counted 10 places where I had cavities that were starting but could be reversed if I allowed her to do a floride sealant on the teeth. She let me know straight up that my insurance would not cover it, but she also told me that if she did not do the sealant the cavities would turn into fillings and I would be out much more money/time/pain in the future. I agreed and she performed the sealant. I could not see all the tools she used, but she basically took this white-ish pasty solution and covered all the teeth in my mouth with pre-cavities with it. I had to sit back with my mouth open while she dried/set up the sealant with a blue, beeping light (like the one used for fillings). It was painless and very quick. I have since not gotten any cavities in those specific teeth.
Review of Service
I love my dentist. She is straight-forward and very knowledgeable. She seems to have all the latest technology and is very educated about how and when to use it all. Because of her foresight and the sealant, I have not had any cavities in over 2 years. More specifically, the teeth she sealed never fully developed those cavities that she saw forming. I would recommend a floride sealant to anyone.
Tips
Listen to your doctor and do not be afraid to have procedures done that your insurance will not cover. It may cost you more out of pocket intially to have the procedure done without the aid of your insurance, but in the long run it may just save you a lot of time/pain/ and money.
