Description of service
The price was the cost above the price of the meals (including tip) for a delivery service to order and deliver two meals from each of two (admittedly adjacent) restaurants (total 4 meals).
That's pretty much all the service offers. They take phone orders for a number of local restaurants, go to the restaurants, place take-away orders, and deliver them. Prices depend on the delivery distance and , but are usually reasonable.
Review of Service
There are no Japanese or Mexican restaurants in the area that deliver, though pretty much any restaurant will do take-away orders. We sort of lucked into the finding the guys who deliver from whatever restaurant you want (pretty much). It's not as all-inclusive a price as it would be if the restaurants themselves delivered, but
The service, it has to be said, varies. If you order from more than one restaurant, delivery times can be outright crazy during lunch or dinner times. But order any other time and the company seems to have the time sorted.
The drivers are mostly good and, so far, have refused tips above the delivery charges.
Tips
This is likely the ultimate in laziness, having food delivered from a restaurant that doesn't deliver. I mean we're paying for the ambiance and service in the price of the food, but not getting either, and we're paying delivery charges on top of that. It is nice sometimes to be able to eat at our favorite restaurants in our living room, but, it doesn't make as much sense when you look at the money. But of course, compared to cooking stuff ourselves (which we usually do, don't think we're decadent), so is eating out.
