Description of service
I lost one of my teeth on the lower left side of my jaw some time back. To prevent disfiguring of the jaw as such, I was advised 'dental bridge' or dental implant by my dentist. Since implants were very expensive I settled for a dental bridge. The artificial teeth placed where ceramic on metal which ensure more strength and almost natural cosmetic look. For it to function, two adjacent teeth are modeled and the 'three teeth bridge' is then placed over it.
Review of Service
My dentist has been very experienced in these procedures and the entire bridge process was done in 2 sittings. The first one was for the measurement and dental cast. After that the bridge was sent for fabrication in a laboratory and by the next week it was fitted in place. The procedure lasted just 15mins! I had been very anxious about the procedure however the doctor and the staff relieved my anxiety.
Tips
There are 3-4 options for dental bridges too. Regular metal, ceramic+metal, ceramic and newer substances. Of these only metal is the strongest while ceramic is more natural looking. A combination of both gives almost natural shine of teeth and the strength of metal underneath. Newer substances are extremely costly. On an avg. each tooth in a bridge costs around 700$ or so a piece. Bad news is mostly none of the dental insurances cover that huge a sum of around 1900-2100$.
