Description of service
I had a maryland bridge replaced with a traditional bridge on my front upper incisor. The Maryland bridge had to be removed, and the two teeth on either side of the bridge had to be filed down practically to stubs. Then a mold was taken of the space and a fake resin tooth was made as a temporary fix while my new bridge was made at the lab. After about a week the new bridge was fitted over the two reduced teeth with the completely fake tooth, or bridge between them. Color matching was important and the dentist finally filed the bridge down to fit with my smile and tooth line.
Review of Service
The service was good and since you spend a lot of time with the your mouth open (4+hours) it is important to like your dentist. Unfortunately, the Maryland bridge was faulty for so long that one of the adjacent teeth was rotted and eventually needed a root canal, which was able to be done without bothering the new bridge.
Tips
I would not recommend Maryland bridges as they are not as sturdy and may damage your adjacent teeth. The traditional bridge may not be optimal as you damage the adjacent teeth dramatically, but it looks better and may last longer with proper care.
