Description of service

Updating our business logo, suitable for letterhead, envelopes, labels, imprinted items, embroidery, and online applications. The total fee was $500.

Review of Service

We met with our salesperson from a local print shop, and discussed updating our logo. There were many meetings, and proofs that were done before we finally settled on our new design. The new logo look great, and are very pleased with it. The trouble was, we were not informed of the design fee up front. We were an existing customer with the printing firm, but had not had this kind of work done for us in the past. It was our feeling that the design fee of $500 was excessive, and should have been disclosed. In the end the salesperson we worked with gave up $200 in commissions to have our billing adjusted. It was unfortunate that with as many meetings as we had with this individual that the design fee was never disclosed. Not ever having any experience with design work, we did not feel responsible for not asking up front what the charges would be.

Tips

I would highly recommend discussing up front if there will be any design fees, either on a one time basis, or on a recurring basis for different design applications.
