Description of service
Represented me in a case involving driving a car that had expired license plates, no insurance or registration.
Review of Service
I was driving a car that we had recently purchased from one of my husband relatives. She sold us the car but did not tell us that they were taxes that were due on the car. Because of this we could not register or put insurance on the car. I was caught driving the car one afternoon. The police officer ran the plates and insisted that I was not the owner. After calling my husband relatives to verify ownership, I was give a citation with a court day. A few days later I began receiving a host of mailing from lawyers requesting to provide me with their service. I spoke with a few and chose the least expensive one. Their fees ranged from $2000 to $500. The lawyer that I chose investigated my case. He went to court for me and I did not have to attend. He spent about an 30 minutes pulling records for my husbands relative. He had the charges dropped due to the car being sold to us in the condition it had been. Those were all violations in our state. He spent about 30 minutes in court. So for I was charged $500 for one hour of work.
Tips
Defense lawyers are pricey. For more serious charges they could really run up a tab for time spent working a case. My citations would have cost me about $800 total. Hiring the lawyer saved me about $300.
