Description of service
I received a ticket in Edwardsville, Illinois. This violated my probation in St. Charles, Missouri. I decided to hire a lawyer that I knew well. Since I did not have very much money at the time, I discussed this with him, and he agreed to charge me less than usual. He charged $500 as a lump fee for all the court dates and any other work he might have to do. This came down to 4 different visits to court and whatever legal research he had to do on the side.
Review of Service
I was very pleased with the service I received. Many lawyers are too busy or indifferent to spend much time with their clients, but I did not have that experience. This lawyer had many phone interviews with me and also discussed the case through letters and e-mail. He never appeared to be bothered by any questions or requests that I had for him. The lawyer and all of his legal staff (secretaries, partners, etc.) were incredibly polite and well-meaning at all times. The only complaint I ever had was that the lawyer was late to one court date, which is not a huge deal.
Tips
Make sure you find a lawyer who is personable and appears to care about your welfare. Also, make sure that the fees are all set in the beginning - don't let the price change after an agreement is met.
