Description of service
Before going for a beach vacation with my friends, my partner and I thought it would be funny to have my back waxed. My back is not that hairy, but its enough that I am a bit paranoid in public without a shirt on. I made an appointment at a spa near where my parents live, as we were stopping there for a brief visit en route to the beach. I had requested a female tech, as I am uncomfortable around males for some reason. The price included a back cleansing, massage, and finally the waxing after they got me nice and relaxed. They used a natural honey based wax solution that they spread on with a wooden spatula. They spread the solution on my shoulders and upper back (I do not have hair lower than my shoulder blades) and then started applying the pads to rip off the hair. I have to admit that it hurt really badly and a lot more than I had anticipated. By the time the 2nd pad was taken off, all the relaxation techniques were for naught. It took all I had not to scream. It lasted about 5-10 minutes I would guess but seemed forever.
Review of Service
The spa was very professional and had very nice employees. Everything up to the actual waxing was wonderfully pleasant. I think that the tech telling me that the waxing "may sting" was an understatement. I would never do this again. My back felt like it was on fire for over an hour afterward and we were traveling that day too. I do not know why anyone would do this to themselves on a regular basis. I definitely have greater respect for any women who do it.
Tips
Do not do it unless you like pain. I would not recommend this to any man, especially if you are really hairy. It hurts really bad and when the hairs grow back in they make your back itch really bad. I know of no good reason to recommend this treatment to anyone. It was horrible. If you are going to do it, realize that it will hurt not "sting."
