Description of service
I went to see this psychiatrist because I was having so many problems with my depression. It seemed to be getting worse and worse, even though I was already on medication. I had just switched insurance and needed to find a new psychiatrist so a friend recommended this one. She charges $250 for the first appointment and $170 for each appointment after that.
The doctor did the basic intake appointment - took my history, both family history and medical history. She asked me about my current problems and what has worked in the past and what has not worked. She then prescribed me some new medication, made sure that I was in therapy, and made some more recommendation.
Review of Service
The doctor seemed to honestly care if I was doing all right and not try to rush me like my previous doctor. The previous doctor, although cheaper, never wanted to spend more than about 10 minutes with me. This doctor spent a full hour with me and never made me feel like I was wasting her time. I would recommend her and just wish she wasn't so expensive.
Tips
Psychiatrists are expensive. Try to find one who takes your insurance up front so that you don't have to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed. However, that can be difficult, so make sure that you keep all documentation so that you can be reimbursed. Because it is so important that psychiatrists understand the problems you are having, make sure you have a psychiatrist who really listens to you.
