Description of service
I have been seeing a psychiatrist for treatment of depression and my medication has not been working. I am still having all the symptoms of depression even though I was on this (really expensive) medication, so I needed to go back and see the psychiatrist even though I wasn't supposed to go back for six months.
Review of Service
I did not feel like the psychiatrist really listened to me. I have been feeling really really bad and she didn't seem to get how bad that was. She kept telling me to exercise more and did not listen to the fact that I can hardly get out of bed. She wanted to increase the medication really really slowly while I think I need a quicker approach.
In addition, she won't do anything over the phone like psychiatrists I have had in the past. In the past, I could just call my psychiatrist and say that it did not feel like the medication was working and the psychiatrist would tell me if I had to come in or if he could just adjust the medication over the phone.
Tips
Of all the doctors that you have to feel comfortable with, a psychiatrist is really important. You have to feel like your psychiatrist understands your problems and can help you. If this isn't the case, change psychiatrists.
