I went for a one-time visit to a psychiatrist.
Review of Service
I had to go for a one-time visit to a psychiatrist, and she was fantastic. She was patient and thorough and asked a lot of probing questions to correctly pinpoint the problem. She was sympathetic and considerate, and I would go back to her in a second if I needed to. The only issue is that I am glad I wasn't having any kind of psychiatric emergency, because it took forever to get an appointment with her, and follow-up appointments were scheduled months in advance. She was excellent with her follow-up care, however, and we were able to have a number of consultations over the phone, so I didn't have to drag my kids into her office.
Tips
Talk with your doctor about whether a visit to a psychiatrist may be beneficial to your condition. A lot of times, Primary Care physicians are taking the initiative to treat and diagnose things like anxiety and depression, and no follow-up with a psychiatrist is required. However, sometimes there may be an underlying issue to the anxiety or depression in which you may benefit from a visit to a psychiatrist's office.
