the Price of Health Insurance from a PPO

The Health Insurance PPO that I have is offered through my place of employment. The cost of medical visits are $5.00, emergency room visits are $25.00, and prescription drugs are free. Pre-Existing visits are generally not covered by the health insurance, although for psychologists you can receive one visit. To find an accepted provider or pharmacy, you go to the website or call the 800 number to see what ones are offered in your area.

The list of providers that they have are kept up-to-date. For this reason, you have to call the provider first, and ask if they accept your insurance before making an appointment. I have had problems finding psychologists, and the ones that the PPO Listed on the website did not accept the health insurance. For this reason, I paid for it out of my pocket. Dental is also not included, except for emergency surgery. That makes it frustrating because of the high costs of dentists.

What is great, though, is the low costs of seeing doctor's ($5) and going to the emergency room ($25). Prescription drugs are also free.

If you do not have mental health problems, this PPO is great. If you also live in an area that has affordable dental care, I also recommend this PPO. However, do your research before making doctor's appointments. Ask if they accept your insurance. You do not want to be in a situation where you have to make out of pocket expenses or submit a claim later on. Also, remember to breath when on the telephone with them. Sometimes customer service is not the best.
