Description of service

We are currently paying $100.00 a week for a family of four for our health insurance through my husband's employer. The cost of a copay is $15.00. And then there is a $10.00 copay for any medications, unless they aren't on the list. We live in a small town so goin to Walmart or Walgreens for the $4.00 prescription plan, just doesn't happen.

Payin this much a month in health insurnace is crazy. We are both in our 20's with two small children. We don't have any health problems. The insurance companies seem to want outrageous prices and they keep increasing. Over the last year it has went up twice. Through my employer, instead of raising the cost of the insurance premiums, they upped the cost of the copay to $20.00. And the insurance policy itself is a joke. They want you to do all these tests before you have anything done like an MRI, even though just doin an MRI would solve the problem and you would be done.

Review of Service

I think insurance is a ripoff. It does help knock down the costs of major things like surgeries and deliveries of babies. However, with so many exclusions in the policy, they just don't seem to make sense anymore. You can get approved for a health plan and they will cover the costs of quitting smoking, however, they won't cover infertility services like IVF.

Tips

If you can, I would get on a good health insurance plan. Not having health insurance is worse than paying out of pocket for everything. Make sure you go to the doctor when you are sick when you have health insuarance. That is why you pay the premiums. Use the services, don't let them go to waste.
