Description of service
When my husband and I changed jobs, we were uncertain how to handle our daughter's insurance needs. A healthy child, we weren't worried about her having many illnesses, but did want to make sure she was covered in the even that something happened. We decided to purchase a private policy for her for six months; this was the time frame that worked for our needs.
Review of Service
We purchased the plan, and of course have never used it. My daughter never gets sick, but of course the courts believe I should have insurance for her (result of a divorce proceeding); and so I must. The plan comes complete with an office visit copay and a drug card. If I had to take her to the doctor, I would be raving I guess about how much money I had saved; as it is, I spent the money so that the courts wouldn't be bothering me.
Tips
1. Know what you are looking for - this option might not be good for someone who has many health problems, takes medicine daily, or sees a doctor frequently.
2. These plans aren't expensive, and they don't provide great coverage. If you experience a major hospitalization, you could get hurt by the coverage. Again, these plans are a gamble that you will stay healthy.
