Description of service
I have a good coverage plan with a $2500 deductible. I get 5 General Practitioner and 5 Therapist visits per year with a $20 copay for each. In addition any prescribed specialist visits are a copay. There is a prescription discount plan. This plan, because of the high deductible, qualifies for a Health Savings Account cooperative. I pay $108.00 monthly.
Review of Service
I like my current plan. I deliberately chose a high deductible plan due to my age, being pretty young I am less likely in need of major medical care, and it allows me to save more via my HSA which can them be used to invest and profit more towards future medical needs. The Insurance company I work with has been very prompt in their payments to my doctor, in particular for preventative care. They have been friendly to deal with, and have not shown me anything but professionalism and courtesy.
Tips
I think your choice in health care plans can be primarily determined on your age, and ostensibly how much risk you are in for needing medical care. I would not advise getting full comprehensive coverage to someone who rarely needs medical attention. The opportunity for Health Savings Accounts are often overlooked, and only work with certain Insurance plans. Just make sure you educate yourself on all the available options as this is a very long term financial decision.
