Description of service

Service is one one-hour lesson per week over four months, first 20lbs of clay free, and unlimited studio time- pottery lessons are at a collective and part of their mandate is to have a place for everyone to practice openly.

Review of Service

Excellent. It is hard to be at a lesson more than an hour because you need to have time to practice what you have learned; obviously pottery is something you learn by doing more than by watching.

One concept covered each week, we would do it together and then watch the instructor, one hour of doing new things and then the rest of the evening he would be around to critique and observe.

Very slow-paced which I appreciated because I was doing this to relax, not to have another thing to put on my plate.

Tips

Find a studio that fits your personality; some are more rigid and scheduled than others

Do not commit to more than a month or two; unless you have done it before, leave yourself an out in case you don't like it. No point in doing it to relax if you hate it.

Find a place that will sell you clay, tools, glazes, and fires on the premises. There is enough to do in the day without adding running all over the city buying supplies; they can buy wholesale, let them save you the work.
