The last time I got my hair braided it was french braided in small/long braids. The actual price of getting my hair braided was $120 with a $20 tip. The braiding shop provided the hair extensions needed and incorporates this expense in the price of the hairstyle.

I was totally unhappy with the rudeness of the stylists who were doing my hair. I think I was overcharged for the style that I received but was strapped for time so I didn't push the issue too much. The actual braiding was painful and the stylist did nothing to remedy this for me. Also multiple braiders were working on my hair at any given time. They were located in my neighborhood and were easily accessible. They also were recommended by a few of my friends and the end result proved that they were right. They were very quick and used their time efficiently.

Make sure that the hair braider or braiding shop comes recommended from someone you trust regarding hair styling.

Also, if you feel that the braiding stylist is rude or overpriced make sure you have a backup plan to replace them. Also, if a specific person comes recommended within a braiding establishment make sure as much as possible that your schedule and theirs are compatible. If a price seems outrageous for the hairstyle you are receiving, it might just be.
