Description of service
My furnace quit working, so I called a local heating & air company to come out and troubleshoot the problem. The technician came out within a couple of days and replaced a part on the furnace. We continued to have the same problem, so my husband replaced the thermostat and that fixed the problem.
Review of Service
The girl who scheduled the appointment was friendly, but not too knowledgable. I think she was new. The technician who came out was friendly, and seemed to know what he was talking about. I would have believed him, too, had the service actually solved the problem. I guess heating and air guys are a lot like mechanics - they just fix something, and if that doesn't work, they fix something else, and if that doesn't work they fix something else. So on it goes until your wallet is empty - then they sell you a new engine... I mean a new furnace.
Tips
I was able to save a little bit of money by signing up for a service agreement. For $129 per year, they'll come out in the Spring and in the Fall to do scheduled maintenence on my AC unit in the Spring and on my Furnace in the fall. They change the filter and clean everything. Last year they found a wasp nest in my furnace, which the tech removed (and left in pieces on my basement floor) and last Spring - guess what? They sold me a new AC unit. (At a substantial discount, of course.)
