I had a person come to my home and repair my computer. I had a virus that really ate away my software. The price I paid was a flat fee to save any files that were still available, wipe the computer clean, down load new anti-virus and firewall programs and re-install all of my software. It took a few hours to do all of this, longer than I expected but the downloads of all my software took a while.

I thought the service was good, in fact the guy taught me a lot about my computer, and how to keep it safe. He restored my computer to pre-virus condition. He also brought me up to date on protection soft ware that you can download from the net, and new ways to store data. I was a bit behind in my knowledge. He also managed to save many of the files I use on a regular basis, I had not backed up my data in a while so this was really important. This person was recommended by a friend so I was not worried about inviting him into my home. He was neat, polite and very knowledgeable.

I think getting a referral from someone you know is important. You don't want to invite just anyone into your home. We made a written agreement for services and he gave me the price before he started working, I think that is a good idea also. Make sure you have everything you need ( software) handy when the repair person comes, that will save some time.
