Description of service
Our second computer had stopped working. It was about 5 years old and had a lot of important data stored on it. We wanted to have it back up and running, as there was a lot of important data on it.
We had a computer tech come out to look (free on-site) at it and it was determined the power supply had gone bad. We bought the part separately, but were charged $90 for about 45 minutes worth of labor for him to diagnose the problem.
Review of Service
We were charged the minimum hourly rate for the service, even though the technician was here for less than the full hour (45 minutes) and altogether probably did about 30 minutes of work.
We probably could have done better if we weren't in such a hurry to get the computer fixed.
Not a great value for the price.
Tips
Be sure to know how much the hourly rate is going to be.
Before you pay for additional parts and service, check to see if it is possible to make the repair yourself.
Shop around different rates, and see if it is cheaper to drop the defective parts off yourself.
If you have computer savvy friends, take advantage of them!
