We took our 5 year old son for a haircut before school pictures. He wanted a mohawk, but we didn't, so the barber said he'd give him a "special mohawk", which meant what I wanted. The barber first washed his hair. He then trimmed the front and top, and shaved the back. He then put aftershave on his neck, and gel on his hair.

Cutting a 5 year old boy's hair is something not just anyone can do. We went right after school, before having a snack, which wasn't the greatest idea. There were about 6 people waiting before we arrived, so we had around a 40 minute wait. Luckily, there is a giant checkers board in the waiting area, as well as snacks and drinks. This barber really knows how to keep kids sitting still and interested in what's happening. When the kids do move around, which is inevitable, the barber moves right with them. It's amazing! When it's over, he puts aftershave on and gel in, so that he's really "dolled up". Before we leave, he lets them choose candy or gum, which is always a good thing. Most of all, the price is very affordable.

Don't take your child when they are tired or hungry. Also, try to choose a time when there aren't a lot of customers waiting. Take a game or book to read if you do have to wait!
