Description of service
By visiting a beauty school, my family members and I -six people total- were each able to have our hair washed, conditioned, cut, (and some styled) for less than it would cost for one of us to receive all of the above in an average salon.
Cost: Between $5 – 10 per person, depending on length of hair, style, (including tip).
Review of Service
I was leery of allowing someone to “practice” on our hair, but with a large family, this kind of savings really adds up. I decided we should give it a try. I found that stylists who are still being graded for their performance, and whom rely solely on tips, do a better job than many “professional” stylists do.
My teens were thrilled with their hairstyles (no easy feat) and I was pleased with mine. My younger children and my husband were happy with their haircuts as well as the friendly service.
The overall experience was a pleasant surprise. The salon was clean and organized, and we did not have to wait weeks for an appointment, since they also accept walk-ins.
I was given a card as I left which was punched then and is punched each time I come in for another cut or treatment. After ten visits, I will earn a free service.
Tips
Check into beauty schools in your area, or look under cosmetology in the yellow pages. Ask about specials for other treatments such as color, perms, eyebrow waxing, manicures, and pedicures and don’t forget to inquire about preferred customer discounts.
