Description of service
Being pressed for time and somewhat lazy a few weeks ago an ad caught my eye for home grocery delivery from a local higher end food store. I decided to try an order. They have a web site which provides a decent selection of various food, both perishable and non perishable. You can further select the time when you prefer delivery. Obviously, these were limited to normal hours. There was a minimum order of $50 and a sliding fee scale. My order was for $$120 and the resulting fee was a hefty $22 including the tip. In retrospect it was a high price to pay to avoid a few trips to the store which is quite close by. With gas prices, if it were a great distance it could be worth it. However, I suspect delivery prices would be higher in that instance. My order was basic with some poultry, produce, and various other basic foods.
Review of Service
The service worked as promised. Delivery guy was on time and nice. However, as indicated, it proved quite pricey considering the easy alternative of going to the store yourself.
Tips
If you really don't have the time at all I guess it is a good option. Usually this service is only offered by the nicer gourmet stores.
