the Price of Cat Grooming

I took my two cats in for a grooming due to extreme matting which had occured on their back. It cost $25 per cat and they shaved the matted hair completely off. It took several hours and only one of the cats came back completely shaved.

Over the summer my cats' hair on their back had become extremely matted to the point that I was unable to brush it out. I took them to a local groomer and they said the only solution would be to shave the hair completely. This was a local groomer and had limited space and staff. They called when the grooming was complete, about 4 hours later, and I went to pick up my cats. One of them has always been rather high strung and I was disappointed to find out that this groomer was unable to control her. They shaved only a small section of the matted hair and still insisted on charging full price. The other cat, who is less tempermental, was fully shaved and bathed. However, both cats seemed overly traumatized by the event. Although they are seasoned travelers, both of them cried the entire drive home and immediately went to their favorite hiding spots when we arrived home. I felt very guilty about putting them through the ordeal and plan to find a different groomer the next time.

Fully discuss beforehand what services you expect to have done and don't be embarrassed to ask for a tour to inspect the areas your pet will be held in. I plan to do more research on my next groomer, gethering referrals and ensuring that the groomer in question has considerable experience.
