Description of service
I have an older cat who is extremely resistant to being groomed or to having his claws clipped. I took him to the local pet store's groomer to have claws trimmed and have him checked for fleas. This cat usually requires sedation to be groomed.
Review of Service
I have nothing but praise for this service provided by the large chain pet products store. The grooming area was clean and neat and the animal seemed well treated and looked good as well. They tried to groom the cat and notified me that he would need his sedative pill which they offered to give him. This is much like sticking your hand in a hungry tiger's mouth so it was much appreciated. I also liked that they called me even though I knew he might require the tranquilizing medicine. His claws were perfectly clipped as short as possible without getting into the quick which takes a degree of skill. He was also thoroughly brushed and had his ears cleaned as well. They remembered not to use a perfumed spray on him as requested which other groomers have failed to do. I think the amount and quality of the service was a real bargain. The vet would have cost me at least ten dollars more.
Tips
Ask friends for good groomers. A friend I know well had used this store groomer and recommended them. Another tip- if you are unsure about a new groomer, the first time you should be present while they do the grooming.
