Description of service
Because of cable television politics, I switched to a satellite service last spring and haven't looked back. When I signed up for service, installation was a big factor for me at first, but then I learned that installation is free as long as I agreed to stay with the company for two years. I aggreed to the two year contract and they had a certified worker come to my home and install the dish and cable boxes at no charge.
Review of Service
The dish was installed the first time the correct way, so I have had no problems. I have read and talked to people that have had to have the installers come to their home several times due to the installation being messed up. I asked the worker to put the dish somewhere it couldn't be seen and that is exactly what he did, putting the dish on the back of the house, out of plain view. Since I was mad at the cable company, I didn't mind agreeing to the two year contract, and actually plan on staying with them past the two years, so it really was a win win situation for me and the satellite providor.
Tips
There aren't too many major satellite providors, but you can check each company's website for the best deal. Most larger cities have local satellite providors too and you can see what they offer to compare and make an educated decision on the best deal.
