the Cost of DSL Installation

I have had trouble in the past installing DSL modems in previous locations I've lived before. So I decided to just go with having the cable company install it for me. The installation service included a wireless modem and router and all the necessary cables to get online. I believe the modem cost $20 and it was about $40 for the service tech to come out and install the modem for me. Ultimately it saved me the time and hassle of dealing with it myself.

The tech gave me a four hour window when he would show up. Wouldn't you know, he showed up two hours after the window he gave. Luckily I was home anyways so he came in and got to work. I think it took him about ten minutes to install the modem then about another ten to get the software installed on my machine, which is fairly slow. So I'm sure it would have been faster if the machine was faster. After that he was done in a total of 30 minutes. I was happy to have it done fast. It works great besides the typical random problems here and there. Overall well worth the money.

You can do it yourself fairly easy, but there are usually problems that arise and may create more problems than if they had just done it for you. It will just depend on how much time you're willing to invest.
