Description of service
DSL service through my local telephone providor at 6.0 mbps. Although the installation is free, service is 39.99 a month. They call it "free installation" because you have to do it yourself. It took about a week for them to get me all of the material needed through the mail.
Review of Service
The installation process is pretty easy. My company sent me a "do-it-yourself" kit that included the modem, installation disk, network cords and instructions. Plugging the cords in was the hardest part, but it wasn't that bad as each cord only fits into one partiular hole in your computer. After plugging everything in, you pop in the installation disk and follow the on screen prompts (it's mostly just entering in personal information). The whole proccess took about 20 minutes and the service worked flawlessly. A very easy transition from my previous providor, which used a cable modem.
Tips
If you have even the smallest spec of computer knowledge you can install a cable modem yourself. Even though it really is that easy, I understand some people will have problems doing it alone. Most teenagers can install it for you, so all you would have to do is get a young person to help you.
