Description of service
I was riding my bicycle on the edge of the road in the bike lane and was hit by a car. Their insurance paid my medical bills, but I lost two weeks of work and they would not pay for that. I called a personal injury lawyer and not only did they get my lost wages paid, I also received a settlement which I used to buy a new bike, better helmet and I put the rest in the bank.
Review of Service
I have learned that I should have at least been "made whole again". Without contacting the lawyer, I would have only had my medical bills paid. I didn't have to pay them a penny, not even a retainer in the beginning. Their fees came out of the settlement.
My only complaint was that there wasn't just one attorney assigned to me. I talked to a different attorney or secretary each time and they had to take time to review the file every time I called them.
Tips
Personal injury attorneys normally don't charge for consultations, so it doesn't hurt to call them. Most of the time you can have the first "interview" over the phone to see if they will take your case.
Call around, get advice from any friends who have had to use this kind of service.
