Description of service
We groomed our dog through our local pet supply store - a neighborhood type place, not a big informal retailer. We dropped our dog off at the pet store and the groomer came and picked him up along with a few other dogs. He or she brought the dogs to a location about twenty minutes away to do the grooming. The groomer shampooed, dried, and trimmed our dog's fur and nails. Also, they "deshedded" him by combing him with a special brush. They returned the dogs to the pet store where we picked our dog up again. The whole process took about four hours.
Review of Service
We were pretty happy with our experience. Our dog came back looking and smelling clean. The best part was that for the next several weeks, he shed considerably less. This was a big change. We never trim our dog's hair; he doesn't need it. However, the groomer took the liberty of trimming his hair in a few areas. He looked a little bit funny, but his hair grew back in a few weeks. The grooming was definitely worth it - just to alleviate some of the shedding.
Tips
If you have some specifics - i.e. you do not want the groomer to trim your dog's hair or cut your dog's nails, be sure to let him or her know beforehand. Also, be sure to give the groomer your telephone number in case of emergency.
