Description of service
We paid $750 a month for an all-day private pre-school designed specifically for gifted children. There were small class sizes and an emphasis on working on reading and spelling skills.
Review of Service
Our child is very gifted. We had initially looked into placing her in a 'regular' pre-school but when we visited a few of the options they were doing things well below her education level. For example, they were teaching the alphabet through cute songs whereas our child has known the alphabet since she was around 3 1/2. The pre-school we decided on was very expensive but well worth the extra cost. For one thing, it was a full day. This was great because they had time to have playtime and game time without cutting down on the time they could learn. It was also great for us financially because we didn't have to pay for 1/2 a day of day care like we would have had to at the pre-schools we were looking at, which were all 1/2 day pre-schools. Our child was given individual attention and we were able to tell the teachers what we were working on with her and they designed her lessons around them.
Tips
This is an expensive option but if your child is gifted and you've got the extra money, don't count it out. The individual attention is wonderful. It's basically like have a one-on-one tutor, full time 5 days a week.
