Description of service
A Private pre-school that meets 3 days a week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:15 -11:45 a.m. The students work on age appropriate material, such as learning to recognize and write their alphabet. They focus on one letter a week and build activities around it. They also work on fine motor skills and handwriting. Each week also includes a bible story and craft activities. The tuition covers teacher salaries, materials and facility usage. There is a lead teacher and assistant in the classroom.
There are also many fundraisers throughout the year to "help keep costs low."
Review of Service
This school has excelled in teaching my child age appropriate skills. His knowledge of the alphabet has greatly improved. He can recognize every letter and for the most part the sound each letter makes. His handwriting has improved 100%. The school has helped him gain more self confidence by providing opportunities for him to be the leader and stand up in front of the class to share.
It is obvious that the school takes great care in selecting teachers who love kids and the process of learning. This is my 4th year having a child there and every teacher has been wonderful. They keep open communication with parents and encourage us to visit or ask questions at any time. They also do a home visit before school starts to introduce themselves and meet the child. This made the first day go smoothly because the kids already met their teacher in a safe environment.
One other thing I like about the school is a program that allows me to buy gift cards for area merchants and a % of the amount goes toward my tuition.
One area of the school that I am not excited about is the amount of fundraising we do. We have had at least 5 fund raisers this past year. They range from selling items to donating for the school carnival. It is hard to participate in everything.
I definately feel that this school is worth the tuition and I have recommended it to many other families.
Tips
It is important to ask friends/family for referrals to local schools. You should also visit the school and meet the staff so you will feel comfortable leaving your child. It is also good to ask about their teaching materials so that your expectations are in line with what they are teaching.
