Description of service
My bicycle got a flat tire while I was riding to class. I hit a curb and the tire just gave out. The repair costs included basic maintenance such as you might have done on your car to ensure that it works well. Of course a new tire tube and rim and the labor to install the tire. Total the repair took about a week. But I took it into the shop during a very busy biking time of year.
Review of Service
Firs off let's start with the service, because I have never been made feel so dumb in my life. I understand that repairing a flat tire isn't the most complex repair, but the staff/owner was both rude and didn't communicate the issue very well. He obviously works in the back room because all the happy sales staff were already occupied helping other customer with their bikes. I had to pay before the service was complete, and this didn't even guarantee that there wouldn't be additional charges when I pick it up. Luckily I was able to get my bike back after one week and was content with the job they had done. However that was until the tire went flat about 6 months later. I don't use my bike so much that the same tire should go flat twice in one year, so now I have had the bike sitting in my closet and have yet to have it repaired again. If and when I do, it will not be by the same shop.
Tips
Be sure that they use quality parts and have any necessary certification to ensure that you are getting the best service available. Also the repair could take much longer than mine did, so be aware and have an alternative because your bike could potentially be out of service for some time.
