Description of service
I am getting on-going laser treatments with a YAG laser to remove a large, black tattoo on my upper arm. My doctor charges me $100 per session. Each session typically takes approximately ten minutes, including pre-treatment icing to minimize discomfort in addition to the actual laser session.
Review of Service
Based on my personal research, this is a fairly good price per laser session.
On the positive side, the treatment is definitely working. The tattoo has faded from a dark, solid black to a light gray. In certain spots, it has completely faded from view.
On the negative side, I have been undergoing treatments every 4-5 months for approximately six years. The costs do add up, and I am disappointed that it has not been completely removed yet. However, I am trying to remove a rather large, professional tattoo that was inked over another, smaller tattoo as a "cover up". There is a lot of solid ink to remove. I have also found that professional tattoos are typically harder to remove than amateur ones.
Tips
For any major tattoo removal, you will have to receive multiple treatments. Ask your doctor if he can offer a discount for repeated visits. I was also able to add a smaller tattoo removal to my existing treatments for no extra cost.
