the Price of Renting an SUV

We rented a small SUV (the size a ford escape)online for our trip. We rented a basic SUV for 14 days with no extras like Sirus radio, car seats, sunroofs etc. We received unlimited mileage and did not purchase the extra insurance because our own insurance covered us. We ended up buying a tank full of gas for 59.33 extra so we would not have to worry about returning the SUV full.

Overall the service was great. The original reservation was made online and the company had all our information and was ready to serve us. When we arrived at the Orlando airport we found the counter easily and the customer service representative was very friendly and helpful. She offered a signifacant upgrade at a cost explaining that our 5 passengers would be "tight in a small SUV." We declined the offer, but she still upgraded us at no extra cost to the next level for our "comfort and convienence." She tried to sell us a lot of extras like gas, satelite radio, insurance, toll charging etc., but she was not pushy at all. They let us pick which car we wanted in the class we were in and the whole process was quick and easy.

The SUV was clean and drove well. We returned the SUV easily by driving it back into the parking structure, removing our stuff and having a representative scan the car. We were a little concerned we may be charged because our young children had left half thier "travelling" meals on the floor, but there was never a cost or problem with that.

We were very pleased with everything.

Do not buy the full tank of gas. The price per gallon was reasonable and at first we thought it would take away the "worry" of returning with a full tank, but it only made us worry about not putting in more gas than we would use in the last few days of our trip, because every gallon we left was wasted money.
