Description of service
We wanted to rent a car for the week, but had three active teens with us. We selected an SUV, and so we used an online bidding service to reach a pricing agreement, rather than pay the $35/day going rate demanded by the rental agencies.
Review of Service
We rented from a popular agency and were pleased with the service provided. They tried to talk us into all the usual things, including additional insurance and prepaying the gas tank, but we have been renting cars for a long time and knew better than to do that. Our vehicle was well-maintained, clean, and took very good care of us. No problems with break-downs or flats. We enjoyed and took advantage of the unlimited mileage option available as well.
Tips
* would never recommend prepaying for gas. It is almost always more expensive that way.
*We rented a car in the states, and are from the US. Make sure that your car insurance adequately covers you in any rental vehicle; ours does. If yours does not, you may need to purchase the rental insurance offered by the company.
* Be aware that some companies have inserted GPS monitors in the cars to make sure that you are not driving over the speed limit; they are now charging for excessive wear and tear if you do drive over the speed limit.
*Read the fine print and understand the contract thoroughly before you leave the counter.
*Don't return the car late; you may encounter additional expenses and charges.
