I went to a new opthalmologist for a check up and contact fitting. Without insurance the charges were: Opthal Exam- New Patient: $175, Determine Refractive State: $40, Script & Fitting of contact lens $75. So the total cost came to $290 dollars and this was just for an exam and fitting. Of course actually purchasing the contact was a separate out of pocket expense on top of the other charges!!
Review of Service
The doctor was very friendly and nice. Her staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. The office was in very convenient location, easy to get to, and easy to obtain correct direction for. The office was extremely clean and everything was professional. The service itself was very good and i would highly recommend this doctor. However, the prices were very high just for an exam and about 15 to 20 minutes of time.
Tips
Have insurance :) Call around to local doctors before making an appointment and find out the cost of a new patient exam before booking the appointment. Also make sure you ask if there will be any other fee's associated with the appointment and that way you can make an educated decision on what is best for you and/or your family!
