Description of service
I recently paid a person $15/hr to paint the exterior of my house. I live in a two story home that is approximately 1300 square feet. I wanted the house to be finished in roughly a five day work week. I provided the paint, of course, and the painter brought all the rest of the necessary materials himself. Since the person finished ahead of schedule, I decided to tip him $50 dollars.
Review of Service
I was very pleased with the job the painter did on my house. The house came out perfect; it looked very professionally done. What I especially liked was the fact that the coat was consistently smooth and even. The person also picked up after himself at the end of each work day. He was quiet - I barely noticed when he was there.
Tips
When it comes to hiring a painter, I recommend hiring someone with at least 2 years experience. I also hired someone who was doing this as a side job rather than unemployed as I thought that employment status was a good indicator of responsibility level and trustworthiness. Before hiring him, I also spoke to him in person at length in attempts to judge his character. I was also very upfront with him about my deadline and need for him to supply all equipment other than the paint.
