Description of service
We rented a large pontoon boat from the state park near our friends' home. There were five of us and the price included gasoline and was for an all day rental. The price also included insurance (non-refundable).
Review of Service
The state park employees were really nice and helpful. They rented pontoons and fishing boats on a first come first serve basis. We got there in the morning and stayed until the evening. Split five ways, the $75.00 fee was very reasonable. We were able to swim right off the boat and take a packed lunch on the boat. The only bad thing I can think of is that they assumed we knew how to drive the boat. We did, but we were not offered even a crash course in training before being given the keys.
Tips
Get there early. If its summer and going to be a nice day, the boats will go fast. We got there right when they opened and luckily got the last boat. Be careful with the pontoons. If you punch the gas too quickly, they will take on water really easily. We almost sunk ours a few times doing this. This is where training would have been nice. I had driven one years ago and thought I would be fine, but I could have used some more training. Most importantly, have fun!
