Description of service
My husband hates shoe shopping, so when he findes a pair he likes he sticks with them until they fall apart. Last summer I took his leather boots, with a heel, to a shoe repair place in the city to have them completely resoled. I also had them stitch up a place where the lacing/stitching had come loose, which they charged only $5 for.
Review of Service
I am very happy with the place I use. It is a small business, and so the prices are a less than some of the larger places in town. For $25 (30 after the stitching), it was like getting another pair of boots. At the state they were in he would have had to throw them out and replace them. The cost of his boots is about $250. For ten percent of that, I expect the boots will last another 3 years at least, if not much longer (they are not his only pair, which helps extend their use).
Tips
Call around to get the best price, if you have the option where you live. The bigger the city the more options you have. Try going with the smaller business. I've found the quality to be superb, the price less, and the people frienly.
