Description of service
I got my penny loafers re-soled when they started to show serious signs of wear. I went to a small independent shoe cobbler.
Review of Service
The shoes I had repaired were not particularly expensive to begin with. In fact, they only cost slightly more than I paid for the repair. However, my family has been a point of trying to help the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling. Anything that can be repaired and get more use out of it, we're going to do that. So when my soles started going I took them to the local cobbler store. They did look at me a little funny as they were clearly not very expensive shoes and most people these days just toss them. They had the shoes back to me the next day and they looked wonderful. The shop called me as soon as they were done and even stayed open about 15 minutes longer as I had to stay a few extra minutes at work the night I was going to pick them up. I've never had shoes repaired before and was really impressed with with a great job they did.
Tips
Even if the savings is negligible it's a wonderful thing to try to get the maximum use of everything you have. Those shoes are no good to anyone sitting in a landfill, taking up room.
