Description of service
Voice over internet phone service including a main phone line plus one fax line. Service is through a major provider. Sign up included first month free plus a free router. Not much else in terms of service or customer support was provided, although set up was relatively easy and should be able to be handled by most people. Service includes unlimited long distance and free unlimited calls to select foreign countries. Billing is done automatically via credit card on file. Voicemail can be accessed either via telephone or online. Additional services like second lines, and mobile softphones are offered, but I did not purchase these.
Review of Service
The package arrived promptly in 2 days after purchase and sign up. Installation as indicated was relatively easy. The phone service is generally good. Occasional dropped calls do occur. And sometimes connection is less than perfect. Fax service leaves much to be desired. Oftentimes it takes two sends to either clearly send or receive a fax transmission. This is supposedly universal on voip faxing.
Tips
It appears one can save $30 to $40 a month using VOIP. Savings are even more if you have a lot of calls to an international destination which is included as free calls. This was a main motivation of mine. It is probably best to remain with landline faxes. I am about to revert back to that set up.
