Description of service
My family and I recently adopted a mixed breed dog from a rescue foster home. The $150.00 fee was to help pay for expenses incurred for the dog. The adoption process included a type of background check to make sure the adoptive home did not have a history of neglect with animals and that it could provide a good home. This also included transportation to get the dog from West Virginia, special food for weight maintenance, a vet check and shots, shelter, and toys. The foster home worked to keep the dog trained and helped the dog get over seperation anxiety from the previous owner who had passed away. They clearly were not looking to make any money but merely recoup the cost of caring for the dog until someone could provide a permanent home for him.
Review of Service
The service provided this dog was excellent. The dog had been found lying by the body of his previous owner who had passed away. He was brought into a home with other dogs, cats and children. The foster home really took the time to make sure he was well adjusted before adopting him out. They made sure he was going to find a good home and be well taken care of.
Tips
When looking to adopt a pet into your home be it a cat, dog, or other animal take the time to look at your local shelters and rescues. They usually have animals that would great additions to your home just waiting to love you. Also, ask what the fee covers. A good adoption fee will provide for the animal without looking to make a ton of money. Additonally, if the fee just covers the care, think of a contribution to care for other animals still waiting for a home.
