the Price of Carpet Installation

When we moved into our new home, the carpet in the bedroom was a mess. We decided to have it replaced. We called everywhere and visited all sorts of places, but all the prices came in at close to or slightly above $2000.00. We decided to go with the least expensive, as that is what fit our budget. The price included removal of the furniture from the room, removal and disposal of the old carpet and padding, installation of the new carpet and padding, and the cost of the carpet and padding. The room recarpeted was 12 x 22 feet.

I have to say I was really shocked by the prices charged for carpet installation. We went with the cheapest carpet in the style/benefits range that we wanted and next to the cheapest padding and it still cost us nearly $2000.00 for one room! Granted that room was large, but I still felt it was a lot of money. The workers were really nice and careful with our belongings. They got the job done in an afternoon too. It was a good experience and I am happy with the results.

Definitely shop around. We saved $300.00 by going with a national home and garden chain because they were running a labor special. Be prepared to pay a lot, even for the lesser quality carpet/padding, but remember you get what you pay for and if its really cheap you will need to replace it sooner.
