Description of service
The cost covered the while-you-wait cleaning of a dress shirt during a not particularly busy part of the day.
It appeared to be a full-service dry cleaners, so I expect they offer the usual services at the usual prices for the area as the $5 charge for one shirt is a typical price to move it to the front of the queue.
Review of Service
I can't say I'm pleased with the results. I'd spilled something a bit gooey on my shirt at work and didn't have time to go home to change, so I figured I'd try taking it to a dry cleaner's. Fortunately I had an undershirt on so I didn't have to sit there for Unfortunately it took the better part of half an hour to get the shirt cleaned and though it seemed to have gotten out the goopiest of the goop, they left a dark stain on my cream-colored dress shirt that they said they couldn't remove (i.e. I had to pitch the shirt). This meant I had to run to a department store to buy a fresh shirt. Fortunately the tailor at the department store was willing to press the shirt so it didn't look like it was straight out of the package.
Time for dry cleaning: 30 minutes> Time it took to get a new shirt: 20 minutes. Total time it would have taken me to drive home and get a clean shirt: 45 minutes. I'll remember next time to just buy a new shirt, or leave a spare in the locked drawer in my desk.
Tips
Sometimes things just don't work out when I try to be clever. That's alright. Although I hate losing, I don't mind a learning experience I can use the next time.
If you spill something on yourself at work, expect dry cleaning to be one of the more time-consuming things that you could do to fix it. And expect rush service to be a lot more expensive than regular dry cleaning, and also expect them not to be able take the time to try all their tricks to get out stains.
