Description of service
I paid $300 for three weeks worth of career coaching. During those three weeks I met with my coach at a local coffee shop and within the first week I had to take a career assessment test, even though I already knew what field I wanted to go into. I paid another $100 for the career assessment test and an additional $100 for three resume and cover letter reviews. I spent a total of $500.
Review of Service
I was not satisfied with the coaching aspect. I didn't like the fact that I had to take an assessment test after I already knew I wanted to look for a career in either film or television. The coach was persistent and claimed it was mandatory to not rule out other occupations. I eventually gave in and do regret it. I did feel like I got a good deal on paying $100 for the coach to review my resume and cover letter three times. She did give me some good feedback on making my resume sound more appealing. My cover letter is flawless so I was very happy with that aspect of the coaching.
Tips
I suggest reading recommendations from others who have been coached before picking a career coach. Search your coach's name online and see what others have said about them. Some website testimonials can be misleading so the reviews did help me select a coach at the end of the day. Networking and persistence were what landed me a new job.
