Description of service
All fluids were changed, filters replaced. The equivalent to a tune-up for a car. A safety inspection was also performed. The bike had been sitting for a while so the oil system needed to be flushed out. The air filters were pretty dirty and since the bike is air cooled that was causing problems.
Review of Service
The service was good. I dropped the bike off and it was ready only a couple of hours later. They didn't try to sell me more service or charge more than they had already quoted me. The shop was privately owned with the owner present which made me feel better. The shop didn't have an area for me to sit and wait for the bike so I had to bring the bike on my truck so i could go find something to do while the bike was being worked on.
Tips
Make sure you don't agree to letting work be performed without approving of the cost first. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion for a costly repair. A lot of that charge may just be labor. Try to stay away from dealerships since they charge too much for labor and most services. If you're getting an oil change, don't just assume that a good quality oil is being used. Ask to see what kind of oil they are going to put into your bike. Cheap oil can cause problems down the road. Try to get a feel for shop. If a shop doesn't seem busy and they aren't always working on bikes, stay away. The good shops are always busy and usually you'll have to make an appointment for service.
