Description of service
We had oak hardwood flooring installed in the first floor of our home. The total area is approxiamtely 1,200 sq ft. We contacted three different companies before we made a decision. Reps from all three companies came to our home for a consultation. Some brought samples, other didn't. All measured the area before deterrming the quote price.
We chose the company that provided the most information on the installation process, type of flooring (prefinished or unfinished), manufacturer selection, and price. Their price was a bit higher than the others but we felt that the owner's knowledge of the process and product was extensive. We felt he and his company would do a good job for us.
The installation process took one day and about two hours the next day. This company was terrific. They moved all of the furniture, removed the carpeting and padding and hauled it away. They also replaced all of the furniture when the job was finished, including adding floor protectors to the furniture.
Review of Service
I love the hardwood floors. The company did an excellent job, their quality and attention to detail is amazing. The color is perfect, it goes very well with our furniture and wall color. I would definitely recommend this company to others who were looking for hardwood floors.
Tips
Here are some tips:
Always get three bids. If you get more than three, it will be too confusing, and it will be difficult to make a decision.
The lowest price is not the best. You might sacrifice quality and good service with the lowest price.
Ask if the work is completed by employees or subcontractors. If employees install, I believe you get better product, quality, and service.
Use the internet to research the various manufacturers, products, guarantees, etc.
Choose flooring that is right for your style of home and decor. Bamboo might not be the best choice for a traditional, two-story colonial.
