Description of service
In summer of 2007 had a single floor (no stairs) 700 square foot section of Laminate flooring installed for $3.40 a Square foot, $2380 total. The cost of the material made up $1.40 and the Install labor the remaining $2.00 a foot. We selected the material and the contractor, delivered, tore out the existing carpet, cleaned and prepped with a foam layer, Performed all install labor, then cleaned up again.
Review of Service
I would rate the job as a 7 on a 1 to 10 scale. The workmanship was good, however the timeliness of the contractor, and his ability to perform as per his estimated schedule could have been better. That being said, we got a pretty good rate, and I suppose thats is the trade off, The cheaper the price you pay the less of a priority it is his him to complete on time. Even though it took some time to finish, the job now looks great and we love it.
Tips
Install labor will be the same regardless of which laminate product you choose, so by paying just a little more on materials you can get a much better end product. As far as the contractor, get references of course, but also be aware of the trade off between getting a bargain or wholesale rate and what that means to your job priority.
